Welcome

I am PhD student at the University of Houston, and I study dynamical systems. My interest include ergodic theory, thermodynamic formalism, and symbolic dynamics.

About Me

I attended Brigham Young University from 2016-2020. During my time as an undergraduate, I attended a talk given by Dr. Todd Fisher where he discussed some of the basics of dynamical systems. This introduction piqued my interest, and I reached out to him to about participating in undergraduate research with him. He was gracious enough to take me on, and we worked on a project classifying roof functions for topologically mixing suspension flows. This continued beyond the completion of my Bachelor's degree in December of 2018 and into my Master's program.

I started my Ph.D. program at the University of Houston in August of 2020. My current advisor is Dr. Vaughn Climenhaga, who has taught me a great deal about thermodynamic formalism. We are employing a dimension theoretic construction for equilibrium states for symbolic systems that we hope to apply in a variety of other settings including dispersing billiards.

Outside of mathematics, I am an avid sports fan. I enjoy playing many sports, and my favorite is tennis. I am often asked, but I sadly do not golf. I also enjoy cooking and traveling. However, I am usually spending time with my wife, or looking at pictures of my dog.
